Abstract
Objective To evaluate morphologic and hemodynamic character of stenoses or occlusion of middle cerebral artery by DSA and perfusion-weighted MRI.Methods From March 2003 to April 2004 , 41 patients with stenoses or occlusion of internal carotid artery were admitted in our department. There were 33 male and 8 female patients. All patients underwent angiography and perfusion-weighted MRI to evaluate their morphologic and hemodynamic characters. Results Perfusion-weighted MRI revealed normal regional cerebral blood flow in all patients, with delayed time to peak in middle cerebral artery distribution. And the disorder was correlated to stenosis degree. Collateral circulation could improve the hemodynamic disorder in border zone, but do nothing to middle cerebral artery distribution. Conclusion Perfusion-weighted MRI is a good method to evaluate hemodynamic character of stenoses or occlusion of middle cerebral artery. And the hemodynamic status is closely correlated with morphologic characters.
