Abstract
ZHALA YIER was an ancient and effective tribe, the changes of whose encampment took place with the evolution of Mongolia plateau and the history of Mongol and the Yuan Dynasty. In the 8th—9th century A.D., ZHALA YIER stationed in the area of HaLaHeLin, herding horses and cattle and tending sheep. In the Liao Dynasty, the tribe moved east to the Wonan River and the QieLuLian River. Soon after the founding of Mongol Empire, the tribe moved to Shangdalu, Mo Nan. With the founding of the Yuan Dynasty, Kublai Khan moved the capital to the northern part of Hebei and the southem part of Liaoning. The trible ZHALA YIER was made to move to the area of the Liaohe River. The tribe ended in the Yuan Dynasty, some of families of whom stationed in the land of the Han Nationality for the manorial system or garisoned Central Plain, for they served in the army or held office in the imperial court generation after generation.
