Structural Mode of Text Symbols in "A Dream of Red Mansion"

Abstract

The text of A Dream of Red Mansion belongs to a gigantic system with most complicated structural mode.Semiotic method concerning structuralism is adopted to analyze an excerpt from A Dream of Red Mansion to find its symbolic structure in the signifier and signified levels.Furthermore,it is pointed out that the strong basis for the multiple meaning of the text in A Dream of Red Mansionlies in the multiple combination of various signifier and signified symbols.
