Abstract
The transesterification between phenol and dimethylcarbomate (DMC) was investigated with Lewis acid and base catalysts Of the several catalysts tested,Pb(Ac) 2·3H 2O has the highest activity Proportion of raw materials, amount of catalyst, reaction temperature and reaction time were investigated based on Pb(Ac) 2·3H 2O When the reaction was carried out for 15 h at n (DMC): n (PhOH): n [Pb(Ac) 2·3H 2O]=1∶4∶0 04 (molar ratio) and temperature 175 ℃,the transesterification basically reached the equilibrium state, the conversion of phenol was 24 80%,the selectivity for methylphenyl carbonate (MPC) was 76 49% and the selectivity for diphenylcarbonate (DPC) was 23 51%
