Cross-sectional investigation on demands for public health education of disease prevention knowledge of the residents in Longgang District of Shenzhen

Abstract

Objective To learn the actual demand on content and methods for disease prevention health education of residents in Longgang District,the study was carried out to provide evidence for better guidance and effectiveness in making health-education policies.Methods A multistage sampling and simple random sampling was carried out among 232 residents and 192 immigrant workers in Longgang District.All the individuals were surveyed with self-made questionnaire.Results For 232 residents,95.7% respondents thought that they need receiving knowledge about disease prevention,disease prevention and treatment needs of the first three diseases were infectious diseases(22.1%),immunization(20.7%) and public health emergencies(16.2%),they most hoped to know the transmission of the disease(16.4%),disinfection and isolation measures(12.3%) and disease prevention(12.3%),the most interesting mode of transmission of health education were free brochures(16.2%),network knowledge(14.4%) and books(12.7%).For 192 immigrant workers,87.5% said that they need receiving knowledge about disease prevention,disease prevention and treatment needs of the first three diseases were infectious diseases(22.7%),labor protection and occupational diseases(20.5%) and public health emergencies(16.9%),they most hoped to know routes of transmission of the disease(18.6%),preventive measures(13.9%),hazard degree(12.8%) and reasonable catering and notes(12.8%),most interested in health education mode of transmission was free of charge brochures(21.9%),poster billboards(13.0%),books(12.2%).Conclusions For different subjects,the content and the way focus of disease contral knowledge is different,the health communicalion work should be targeted,and the types of health education knowledge should be further enriched.
