Abstract

The imperial examination in Tang Dynasty was fairly backward with only 25JingShi(Successful candidates in the highest imperial examinations).But South Hunan gave rise to the first Zhuang Yuan (title conferred on the one who came first in the highest imperial examination), and also was the main area where the JingShi emerged. The causes are thought-provoking.
