Social Causes of Decline of Imperial Examinations in Guangxi during Yuan Dynasty

Abstract

Yuan Dynasty was a period when imperial examination in Guangxi declined.Only a very small number of examinees passed the imperial examinations,so it was hard for scholars to pursue an official career.This difficult situation was closely related to Yuan Dynasty's policy of racial discrimination and regional social upheaval in Guangxi.A survey of the situation of imperial examinations in Guangxi during Yuan Dynasty can provide a new perspective of regional history to research the interaction between imperial examinations and society.
