Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the relationships among the continual changes of intracranial pressure (ICP),clinical manifestation, and the prognosis in patients after craniocerebral operations. Method: Using ventricular intracranial pressure monitoring system, we continually recorded the intracranial pressure in 23 post-craniotomy patients and the changes of vital signs and Glasgow Coma Scall scores were documented at the same time. Result: The intracranial pressure was normal in 4 patients, mild increase in 6, moderate increase in 6, and severe increase in 7. Five was dead mainly because of increased ICP. Conclusion: Continual intracranial pressure monitoring is helpful in recognizing and managig the pathogenic condition and in prognosing the outcome of the illness.
