Abstract
ObjectiveTo study the course and degree of postoperative insulin resistance in patients subject to open cholecystectomy(OC)vs laparoscopic cholecystectomy(LC).MethodsFifty-three cases undergoing elective operation were divided into OC group(n=28)and LC group(n=25).Insulin sensitivity was measured by the QUICKI before,and 24 and 72h after elective surgery and compared between the two groups.ResultsAfter LC,mean insulin sensitivity was reduced by 8% as compared with baseline,and after OC by 20%(P(0.01)).ConclusionInsulin sensitivity was less affected 24h after LC than after OC.The course and degree of postoperative insulin resistance was more pronounced after OC.
