Abstract
In this study, the upper parts and roots of the cotton-straw bark are immersed by the sulfuric acid solution for a certain period of time before the alkaline degumming. The influence of sulfuric acid pre-treatment on the length, fineness, pliability, residual gum content of nature cellulose fiber from cotton-straw bark are studied. The results show that the residual gum content, fineness are reduced and pliability is increased in the condition of sulphuric acid solution before the alkaline degumming and it has no apparent affect on breaking tenacity and elongation at break.Comprehensive consideration of the various indicators, the best concentration of the sulfuric acid is about 30~50mL/L.
