Detection of CEA Mrna in Peripheral Blood of Patients with Gastric Cancer and Its Clinical Significance

Objective To study the clinical significance of the expression of CEA mRNA in peripheral blood of gastric neoplasm.Methods Seventy gastric neoplasm patients were selected in the study.Using nested reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction,we detected the expression of CEA mRNA in the peripheral blood before and after operation.20 healthy donors and the 10 gastric cancer tissue were also included in the study.Results Of 70 peripheral blood preoperation of gastric neoplasm patients,the expression positive rate for CEA mRNA was 32.9%,which was significantly correlated with the pathologic differentiation and TNM states,but not significantly with the focus and gender of patients.The expression positive rate of the gene was higher after operation than before operation.It were positive in all gastric cancer tissue,but negative in peripheral blood of all healthy people.Conclusion The presence of CEA mRNA in peripheral blood is a helpful indicator of the hematogenic disseminatoon of tumor cells in patients with gastric cancer.It can be helpful to the judgement of prognosis and selection of treatment methods.Surgical maneuvers were a possible cause of hematogenous metastasis.
