Influences of Family Socioeconomic Status on the Development of Children

Abstract

The differentiation of family socioeconomic status is a common phenomenon in modern society.This differentiation of family socioeconomic status has significant influences on the development of children,which attract the attention of researchers' attention for years.Many factors contribute to the measure of socioeconomic status.The present paper first introduces the meaning and the measures of socioeconomic status.And then we make a summary about how the low socioeconomic status and high socioeconomic status influence the development of children.Specially,for the low socioeconomic status children,they manifested developmental risk in many fields,including the development of brain,academic achievement,cognitive and emotional development.For the high socioeconomic status children,they also manifested more behavioral and mental health problem than their counterparts from middle class family.Last,from the perspective of state policy and school education,we discuss the interventions available in the future to deal with the effect of socioeconomic status.
