Abstract

The paper focuses on the phonology mode and structure constrains of disyllabic and trisyllabic tone sandhi in Liuma dialect in Beiliu city,Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It then compares the modes of tone sandhi in Yue dialects of Goulou cluster with that of Zhuang language and discusses the rules. It concludes that:i) The disyllabic tone sandhi usually occurs in the first syllable and is morpho-syntactically constrained. The trisyllabic tone sandhi works on the base of the disyllabic one.ii) A considerable numbers of similarities are found among Liuma dialect, other Yue dialects of Goulou cluster and Zhuang.iii) Tone sandhi is not simply phonological, semantic or grammatical, but probably a prosodic sandhi by the charge of metrical type.
