Abstract

Objective To isolate and identify brucellosis, and to provide a scientific basis for case diagnosis, treatment and disease control. Methods Patients' blood samples were collected sterilely, and inoculated in blood culture bottles for increasing bacteria, and then subcultured to goat blood agar plates for isolation.Isolated strains were biochemically identified by Vitek and serologically subtyped by diagnosis sera.Brucella genus-specific genes and subtype-specific genes were tested by PCR methods. Results The brucellosis strain isolated from patient's blood was identified as Brucella melitensis, brucella serum positive,A factor and M factor serum agglutination test positive. Conclusions This case is a Brucella melitensis laboratory-confirmed case.
