Quantitative analysis of oleanolic acid in Swertia genus and relative plants by HPLC

Abstract

The mean recovery of oleanolic acid in Swertia kouitchensis was 102.1%. The RSD was 1.15%, which met the requirement of quantitative analysis. Therefore, different parts of 14 species of Swertia and related plant were tested respectively. There were oleanolic acid in all these 14 kinds of plants^ flowers, leaves and stems, in which the content of oleanolic acid was the highest in flower, ranging from 0.937% to 1.386%. The content of oleanolic acid in leaves and stems was next to that in flower, and the difference was notable, ranging from 0.236% to 1.041%. There wasn^t oleanolic acid in roots. This experiment all these plants used for Zhangyacai in folk medicine contain the constituent for protecting liver, namely oleanilic acid and the content of oleanolic acid in flowers was higher than that in other parts of the plants.
