Abstract

Objective To study the efficacy of laparoscopic splenectomy in treatment of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura resistant to medical management. Methods 15 patients with ITP underwent laparoscopic splenectomy. The data of preoperative and postoperative platelet counts were analyzed retrospectively. Results Operations were succed in 15 cases. Operation time was (30 ~ 120) min, blood loss in operation was (30~120) mL. After 1 years, 10 cases were markedly effective, 2 cases effective, the total effective rate was 80% (12/15). Conclusion Laparoscopic splenectomy is a relatively safe and effective method for treatment of ITP.
