This article tries to set off a comparative discussion to popular culture represented by Wang Shuo and spirited culture by Zhang Chengzhi, separately elaborating the characteristics of these two kinds of culture and the two shown developing tendencies of Chinese Literature from the end of 1980's to the beginning of 1990's.
