Abstract
Objective To investigate the factors that related with prognosis of liver metastases from colorectal cancer. Methods Analysis the clinical data of 115 patients with liver metastases from colorectal cancer retrospectively,15 variables were explored by Kaplan-Meier survival curve analysis, variables that were associated on univariate analysis with significant differences in Kaplan-Meier analysis were entered into a multivariate Cox proportional hazards model. Results The median survival time of 115 patients was 17.9±2.8 months, and 1,2 years cumulative survival rates were 40.4%±6.7% and 22.5%±6.0% respectively, significant differences were found in cumulative overall survival in microscopic types of and grade of pathology of primary tumor, regional lymph nodes metastases, the depth of bowel wall invasion, celiac implantation, extrahepatic metastases, number and distribution of liver metastases, size of largest liver lesion and treatment methods of liver metastases by univariate analysis.Multivariate analysis identified that grade of pathology and the depth of bowel wall invasion of primary tumor, extrahepatic metastases, size of largest liver lesion and treatment methods of liver metastases are important prognosis factors for liver metastases from colorectal cancer. Conclusion These factors, grade of pathology and the depth of bowel wall invasion of primary tumor, extrahepatic metastases, size of largest liver lesion, can affect the survival rate of patients with liver metastases from colorectal cancer, and treatments, hepatic resection plus chemotherapy, other regional treatments for liver metastases plus chemotherapy or pure chemotherapy, can improve survival time of patients.
