Abstract

According to the present situation of serious wind erosion in the sandy land of Yanchi in Ningxia, the effects of wind prevention and sand resistance of local farmland shelterbelt, that including tabular shrubbery, zonal shrubbery and zonal arbor forest, were studied. The results showed: notable differences of threshold velocity of sand-driving wind were shown in the sandy land with different underlying surfaces.Threshold velocity of sand-driving wind of the land with higher vegetation coverage was much bigger than that of rainfed cropland and mobile dune.Different farmland shelterbelt showed different effects on wind prevention and sand resistance.According to our study, the sequence of their effects on wind prevention and sand resistance was tabular shrubbery of Caragana microphylla, zonal arbor forest of Ulrnus purnila, zonal shrubbery of Salix psammophila.
