Effects of snomenine on monocyte chemoattractant protein–1 in diabetic rat kidney

Abstract

Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect of snomenine to the diabetic rats on expression of renal monocyte chemoattractant protein–1(MCP–1).Methods 45 healthy Sprague Dawley rats were divided randomly into three groups:normal comtrol(Group N),diabetic control(Group D) and snomenine treated group(Group S),To collect the datas of 24-hour urinary protein excretion serum creatinine reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) analysis of MCP–1 mRNA expression.Results There were significant differences in 24-hour urinary protein excretion,serum creatinine and expression of MCP–1 mRNA between the Group D and Group N(P0.01).The 24-hour urinary protein excretion and expression of MCP–1 mRNA of Group S were markedly greater than those of Group D(P0.01).But there were no significant differences in serum creatinine and athologic change between the Group S and the Group D.Conclusion Snomenine exerts an early renal protective role to diabetic nephropathy,possibly through inhibition of expression of MCP–1.
