Abstract
In order to find the most suitable density of new corn variety Zhengdan 538,a filed experiment was designed with 7 kinds of densities in 2011,and the traits of plant and ear, grain yield and its components were analyzed. The results showed that, with the increase of planting density, the plant height had no significant variation, while the ear height, lodging percentage, bare plant rate and bare tip of ear increased, and the stem diameter became thin,so the grain number per row,ear grains,1 000-grain weight and yield decreased. It was suggested that the optimum density of Zhengdan 538 should be 60 000-67 500 plants/ha under low fertility,67 500-75 000 plants/ha under middle fertility and 75 000-82 500 plants/ha under high fertility and irrigation conditions.
