Abstract
Objective To evaluate anthropometric parameters of abdominal visceral obesity in young and Middle-aged people and the clinical significance. Methods Abdominal visceral fat(AVF)areas were measured in 267 subjects with MRI.Meanwhile,BMI,WC,WHR were assayed and compared with AVF areas.ROC curve was used as index for analysis. Results(1)AVF area was significantly positively correlated with BMI,WC and WHR(r=0.645,0.782,0.618;all P0.01).Besides,we investigated the use of the area under the receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve(AUC)as a performance measure and found that the area under the ROC curve(AUC)was 0.89 for WC in male and 0.85 for BMI in female,which had the largest area under the ROC curve.(2)The best cut-off points of these anthropometric parameters in assessing abdominal visceral obesity were as following:WC 88 cm in male,BMI 24kg/m2 in female. Conclusion BMI,WC,WHR can predict abdominal visceral obesity,with WC as the best in male and BMI as the best in female.
