Abstract

The performance based design of building fire protection is a completely new and rational design concept on the basis of fire safety engineering. By the modern scientific method, it can be used to make forecast and evaluation qualitatively or quantitatively, which concerns the performance objective and behavior condition that the building fire protection facility system should be achieved, as well as the dangerous and consequence of a fire, in order that the optimum fire safety design strategy and the best fire protection for building could be obtained. This paper reviewed a series of items, such as the concept of performance based design, the framework system of performance based design, and the evaluation method, etc.
