An Evaluation of Li Bai's Calligraphy

There were many splendid masters of calligraphy in the Tang Dynasty as a result of the prosperity of calligraphy. Li Bai was affected but not confined,and then became a rare genius master in the calligraphic history. Existing calligraphic works of his,including rubbings,inscriptions,writings on stones and inscribed board,the authenticity of which to be determined,show his brushwork as myriads of changes like flying and dancing. The calligraphic structure is open,natural and unrestrained,with rhythmical application of composition,which all blend into one harmonious whole. Li Bai's calligraphic style is similar to his poetic style that were not limited by calligraphic rules of the Tang Dynasty. Being very wonderful and romantic,it brought a clear and grand wind for calligraphy in the Tang Dynasty.
