Abstract
We studied the effects of high temperature stress on heat injury index, contents of MDA and proline, activities of SOD and POD in seedlings of six hot pepper cultivars. The results showed that, Xinxiang No.8 and Xinxiang No.24 were better in heat tolerance. As the temperature increased, the SOD activity firstly increased and then decreased, while the POD activity had no significant correlation with heat tolerance. The contents of MDA and proline had the positive relationship with temperature in the paper. Thus, SOD activity, proline content and MDA content could be taken as physiological indicators for heat resistance identification of hot pepper seedlings.
