Abstract

Objective Make a comparative analysis of efficacy and safety in the treatment of senile depression by escitalopram and fluoxetine, and investigate the reasonable treatment of geriatric depression. Methods 104 elderly depression patients were randomly divided into escitalopram group and fluoxetine group,52 cases of each group, respectively, were treated for two months, the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale(HAMD),Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA),side effects scale(TESS) were determined to assess the clinical efficacy and safety of two drugssex. Results The effective rate of the escitalopram group was 92.16%,the fluoxetine group was 82.15%,the clinical efficacy was not statistically significant(P 0.05);There were statistically significant differences in HAMD and HAMA score between escitalopram group and fluoxetine group after two weeks of treatment, escitalopram was significantly lower than the fluoxetine group;the HAMD score of escitalopram group was significantly lower than the fluoxetine group after 4,6 weeks, the fatigue, constipation, nausea incidence of fluoxetine group was significantly higher than the escitalopram group, there was a statistically significant difference. Conclusion The escitalopram is more suitable for the treatment of senile depression, compared to fluoxetine, improve depression and anxiety faster, and have better security, can be used as the drug of choice of the treatment of depression.
