Abstract
The content and storage organs of triterpenoid saponin, and anatomical structures of Achyranthes bidentata' vegetative organs were studied by quantitative analysis, light microscope and histochemical location. The results showed that triterpenoid saponins could be accumulated in roots, stems and leaves of the plant, and the general accumulating pattern was leavesrootsstems. The accumulated part of roots was tertiary phloem, and that of the leaves cells of palisade tissue. The roots and stems of A.bidentata both are anomalous structure.Tertiary vascular bundles differentiated in roots, which arranged in circle, and the Tertiary vascular bundle circles could be up to 7~8.There are two pith bundles in stems. The leaves were bifacial leaf which had much aerenchymas in spony tissue.Triterpenoid saponins accumulated in roots, stems and leaves.Content of triterpenoid saponins:Leaves root stem. The main storing place of triterpenoid saponin are tertiary phloem in roots;Palisade tissue are the main stored place of triterpenoid saponin in leaves.
