Abstract

The potential and path of development of grassland carbon sink in Inner Mongolia were analyzed. The area of Inner Mongolia grassland is about 75866700 hm2,accounting for 27% of the total national grassland areas, carbon sink of grassland reserve reach up to 1 million tons, equivalent to about 400 million tons of carbon dioxide, which approximately can offset annual carbon dioxide emissions by 6.5%,and which provides a good foundation for the development of grassland carbon sink economy in Inner Mongolia. The path of development of grassland carbon sink economy in Inner Mongolia should be found from international and domestic levels.Domestic level includes improve local administrative regulations, putting legalizing measures of increasing grassland carbon sink, assessment of carbon sink and carbon sink trading;international paths is to build grassland carbon sink mechanism relying on CDM,secondly,to build a platform for international cooperation and to improve compensation system of grassland eco-efficiency.
