Clinical analysis of open reduction and internal fixation in treating tibial plateau fracture

Objective:To investigate the clinical results of open reduction and internal fixation in the treatment of tibial plateau fractures.Methods:Thirty-two cases of tibial plateau fractureswere treated from January 2007 to December 2009 in our hospital.According to Schatzker classification,4 cases were typeⅠ,20 cases were type Ⅱ,3 cases were type Ⅲ,3 cases were type Ⅳ,1 case was type Ⅴand 1 case was type Ⅵ.They were treated with open reduction and internal fixation and allograft implantation for defective fractures.Results:Thirty-two cases were followed up from 3 to 18 months,with an average of 11 months.All the fractures were united.The satisfactory rate of 86% based on Hohl scale.Conclusion:Internal fixation is an effective method in treating tibial plateau fracture,and the operation procedures would be varied with the fracture types.Complications afteroperation are closely associat-ed with the fracture complexity.Anatomical reduction,bone transplantation,stable internal fixation,and early functional exerci-ses are effectivemeasures of preventing complications.Early treatment of soft tissue injurymustbe emphasized especially.
