Abstract

[Objective]To understand the situation of commercial sex workers'(CSWs) knowledgepractice about AIDS and HIV infection in order to develop the health education and behavior intervention better.[Methods]To investigate 294 CSWs by uniform scheme and questionnaire, and collect 5 ml vein blood from each one.[Results]The correct answer rates of the items,HIV transmission way and preventing measure were both higher than 75.85%,and those of non-transmission ways were from 45.58% to 84.35%.The rate of those who always used condom when engaged in commercial sex service was less than 51.30%.The main reasons that they didn't use condom at recent service were: they(33.33%) believed their clients didn't have infectious disease;their clients raised the reward for them(29.55%).Their HIV anti-body test were all negative.[Conclusion]Most CSWs had mastered the knowledge of HIV prevention, but their condom using rate was very low.The emphases of health education and behavior intervention should be correcting their wrong ideas in time and strengthening the AIDS health education on their clients to change their high risk behavior.
