Relationship between anxiety,depression and social support of college students

Objective To explore the situation and relationship of anxiety,depression and social support of college students.Methods By the SSRS,SAS and SDS,a sample of 1 250 college students selected from Jilin Normal University in the northeast at random were tested and compared to usual models.Results The scores of social support was lower significantly than usual models for college students(t=-53.96,P0.001),while the scores of anxiety was higher significantly than that(t=46.56,P0.001);the index of depression severity was(0.45±0.09);The scores of social support was negatively correlated with the scores of anxiety and the index of depression severity(r=-0.29～-0.11,P0.001),and the former had predicting function on the latter.Conclusion The level of social support of college students is lower than that of ordinary people in our country,while the level of anxiety is the opposite and that of depression is under moderation for a whole;the situation of social support has significant and important influence on anxiety and depression for college students.
