Abstract
To analyze the practicability of sea surface wind data,we simulated the wind field over the East China Sea of 2008 using Weather Research and Forecasting Model(WRF).The model results are compared with the QuikSCAT data. The results show that both WRF and QuikSCAT capture the detailed seasonal variation of the sea surface wind field over the East China Sea.The fluctuation of difference of wind magnitudes is large in the months affected by the typhoon.Detailed analysis of four Typhoon passages during July and September shows that:(1)under weak typhoon condition, the difference between WRF and QuikSCAT is slight(;2)under strong typhoon condition, significant difference between WRF and QuikSCAT exists in the near-shore region closing to the center of typhoon, with a better performance of WRF than that of QuikSCAT.
