Abstract
Disease causes heavy losses in tomato production and fruit quality.Breeding cultivar for disease resistance is one of the most important and effective ways to control diseases.Molecular marker technique provides a beneficial supplementary tool for tomato disease resistance,which can raise breeding efficiency significantly by identifying disease resistant locus on DNA level precisely and rapidly.The paper reviewed the status of important tomato diseases and the research progress on molecular marker for disease resistance genes in tomato.The utilization of these molecular markers in marker-assisted selection was also put forward.
