Abstract

Italian ryegrass(Lolium rnultiflorum) and rice straw(Oryza sativa) were mixed and ensiled in different proportions for 42 d to assess the best ratio of the mixed silage, then the nutrition contents and fermentation qualities of all treatments were determined and analyzed. The results showed that Italian ryegrass silage alone was hard to success, however, the value of ammonia nitrogen/total nitrogen and the contents of acetic acid, propionic acid and butyric acid decreased significantly by added the rice straw(P0.05).The mixed silage of 7:3(Italian ryegrass:rice straw) had the optimal fermentation quality and was considered as excellent base on the classification standard of V-Score.It was suggested that the 7:3mixed proportions of Italian ryegrass and rice straw was the best for improving fermentation quality and maximum using straw.
