Abstract

Isoprenoids such as chlorophylls and plant growth regulators are required for essential biological processes such as growth,development and photosynthesis,and biosynthesized by a series of enzymatic reactions involved in mevalonate pathway.In this paper,the research advances in biological characteristics,enzymatic reaction mechanism,gene cloning and genetic transformation of mevalonate kinase,one of the rate-limited enzymes in this pathway were summerized in order to provide reference for its application in crop improvement.
