Abstract

[Objective]The aim was to study the stability of chlorine dioxide by ultraviolet spectrophotometry and iodometric method.[Method]Using the powder of chlorine dioxide as material, the experimental conditions were determined by UV spectrophotometry and iodometric method, then this two methods were used to study the effect of temperature, activation time, degradation time of chlorine dioxide.[Result]The maximum absorption wavelength of chlorine dioxide was 357- 360 nm.The ion of ClO2and ClO2-were determined by iodimetry and the optimum pH was 6.85- 7.15.When the content of chlorine dioxide solution increased or solution temperature elevated, the UV absorption was increased,at the same time iodimetry display the solution concentration of ClO2and ClO2-was gradually increased.Chlorine dioxide was required activated for 210- 220 min,the UV absorbance was maximum,ClO2ion concentration was the highest and the ClO2-ion concentration was the lowest. When Chlorine dioxide used it rapid degradation, the absorption decreased, the ion concentration ClO2and ClO2-were also decreased.[Conclusion]The study provides a scientific basis for chlorine dioxide's promotion and utilization.
