A Brief Review of History Centre and Historiography in Ming Dynasty

Compared with the previous dynasties, the History Centre of Ming Dynasty is not sound. Under the extremely harsh political environment, historiography of Ming declined gradually. The official compiling of historic works stalled with very few works produced. In early part of the Dynasty, private compiling of history is forbidden,therefore it is extremely rare to see privately compiled historic works; but in later period of the Dynasty, the prohibition slacked, which made it possible for such works. Compared with the Tang and Song dynasties, the Ming Historical Achievements is not high relatively, but it gave a direct impact on the Historiography of Qing Dynasty.
