Abstract

Objective To explore the value of intravascular ultrasound(IVUS)in the diagnosis of coronary artery disease(CAD).Methods Forty-four patients with CAD or suspected CAD from Jan.2011 to Sep.2011 were selected.Fifty-seven coronary artery segments were measured by IVUS and CAG and the characteristics of the plaques, the stenostic morphology and the severity of stenostic vessels revealed by the two techniques were compared. Results In 44 patients,CAG showed no stenosis in 7 cases and mild stenosis in 15,but IVUS could discover significant and various kinds of atheromatous plaques. The percentages of stenosed arterial diameter and area in CAG were(32.52±9.85)%) % and(45.7±17.28) % respectively, which were significantly less than(46.64±10.19)% and(61.53±14.80)% by IVUS.The rates of detection with IVUS were more than those with CAG for calcified lesion and eccentric lesion(P0.05).Conclusion IVUS can reveal lumen morphology and plaque characteristics and evalue the degree of vascular lesions, which has important clinical value in the early diagnosis and intervention of CAD.
