Thoughts and Suggestions on Railway Network Plan after Wenchuan Earthquake

Research purposes: The re-thoughts is made on the southwest China railway network and the relevant suggestions are put forward for the purpose of overcoming the defects revealed in the earthquake.Research conclusions:Based on analyzing the role of railway in earthquake relief works and the defects of the southwest China railway network revealed in the earthquake,this paper puts forward following suggestions to the railway network plan:(1) The railway network plan should coordinate with economic development and satisfy the Disaster Emergency Response Support System requirements.(2) The network flexibility should be improved by strengthening construction of external corridor,enlarging internal network scale and improving rapid passenger and freight network.(3) All modes of transportation should be integrated.
