Abstract

16α, 17α-Oxido-16β-methyl-△~5-pregnen-3β-ol-20-one (Ⅱ) was reduced to a mixture of compounds Ⅶa, Ⅷa and Ⅸa by lithium aluminium hydride. Structures of these compounds were proved by degradation reactions. The C_(20)-configurations were established by comparisons of relative reaction rates, molecular model consideration, and molecular rotation differences of the related compounds.
