Intra-oral Arc Osteotomy of Mandible for Correcting Prominent Severe Mandibular Angle

Objective To study the effect of intra oral arc osteotomy of mandible for correcting severe prominent mandibular angle. Methods Intra-oral arc osteotomy of mandible was performed in 20 cases with severe prominent mandibular angel. The width of the lower face and mandibular angle were evaluated by X-ray before and after operation. Results Before operation, mandibular angle was 111.209±7.946 and the width of the lower face was 12.221±0.765 cm. After operation, mandibular angle was 129.491±6.277 and the width of lower face was 10.797±0.688 cm. All patients were satisfied with the contours. No severe complications such as fracture of mandible or damage of inferior alveolar nerve are observed. Conclusion Intra oral arc osteotomy of mandibular with design the extent of osteotomy was more effective mothod for correcting prominent severe mandibular angle.
