Abstract

Using water culture experiment, the activities of superoxide dismutase(SOD),catalase(CAT) and peroxide(POD) in banana(Musa AAA subgroup Cavendish Williams) seedling leaves subjected to different water stress(0,-0.1 and-0.3MPa) were measured. The results indicated that the activities of SOD,CAT and POD in leaves increased in the beginning of stress, thereafter decreased.Rewatering in time, the activities of three protective enzymes increased to the normal level. It is concluded that water stress would lower the activities of three protective enzymes, hence decreased the ability of seedlings to drought resistance.
