Abstract

Based on the FH index and three Guangdong Province input-output tables in 1997、2002 and 2007,this paper calculates material outsourcing rate and service outsourcing rate of 75three-digit industries of Guangdong Province, and tests the outsourcing spillover effects on the Guangdong industrial total factor productivity( TFP).We focus on the effects of intermediate input goods nature and industry characteristics impact on industry productivity heterogeneity. The main findings are threefold.First, there is a big difference of outsourcing level and trend between Guangdong Province and the national average.Second, both of the material outsourcing and service outsourcing are conducive to the enhancement of TFP of Guangdong' industries, and the role on productivity of service outsourcing is much larger than the one of material outsourcing.Third, the low degree of concentration of exports and capitalintensive industries, has more pronounced role in promoting productivity. In particular,we find that the two forms of outsourcing have led to capitalsaving technical progress.
