Abstract

Based on full and accurate historical data and the situation of development of Chinese contemporary popular music, this article makes a diachronic study of terms like demotic music, popular music, singing art for popular music which emerged from the development of Chinese popular music and have been widely used in musical life. It provides an important reference to understanding the connotation of Popular Music in studying this subject.
