A Cognitive Interpretation of Polysemy

Polysemy,a pervasive phenomenon,is the association of two or more related senses(meanings) with a single linguistic form.As for polysemy,it is a process of meaning extension from primary meaning to other more or less discrete,though related meanings via cognitive device,like metaphor and metonymy,which helps to better understand the formation of polysemous structures.
