Abstract

The electrochemical synthesis of sodium ferrate was carried out in membrane cell with metal iron as anode and platinum as cathode in electrolysis of 18M NaOH solution. The optimum temperature of synthesis is about 20℃.Current density is about 0.5mA/cm 2.The current efficiency of the synthesis in saturated sodium hydroxide solution is 71.4%.Charging voltage was varied between 1.92 to 1.83V.Electrochemical synthesis time is about 2 to 3 hours.
