Abstract

Thermo-magnetization measuring and analysis of powder metallurgical high speed steel(PM HSS) was carried out by vibration sample magnetometer in physics property measurement system(PPMS-VSM).The result shows that the Ferrite phase content in annealed PM HSS is 70.5%(volume fraction). The carbides precipitate from martensite in the heating stage during the temper process, but in the thermal holding and decreasing stages, residual austenite transforms into martensite. The martensitic volume fraction in quenched steel is approximately 44.6% and in the first, second, third time tempered steel are approximately 67.5%,70.0% and 70.3%,respectively.
