Abstract
The essential principle of digital speckle correlation method (DSCM) and the hardware system for experimental measurement of rock materials using DSCM are firstly introduced, then the failure processure of a rock structure is observation using the system. The experimental results show that the failure procedure of rock structure undergoes damage accumulation and localization. Despite the fact that the macro crack of the structure after failure could be corresponding to the final state of the localization evolution, the processure of the localization evolution is rather complicated, either of spatial or temporal.
