Application Treponema pallidum recombinant antigen in serological diagnosis

It is important to screen syphilis sera in relating crowd for control and prevention of syphilis transmitting. TPHA and FTAABS are the common methods which could be used to detect syphilis specific IgG and IgM antibodies.Recently,several enzyme immunoassays have been developed for screening syphilis sera instead of using common methods.However,it is difficult to obtain sufficient T.pallidum antigens because treponema pallidum cannot be readily cultured,so the source of antigen become major restriction when using these serological diagnosis methods.Recombinant antigens could not only provide large quantity of specific T.pallidum antigens,but also avoid contamination with rabbit testicle tissue components.Recent years,it is gradually used in research of many kinds of serological diagnosis methods and development of relating diagnosis kits.
