Abstract

By use of the ecological footprint assessment and calculation method, the ecological footprint and ecological bearing capacity of Jiangsu Province for 2003 were analyzed and calculated, and the sustainability of social ecological development and ecological state of Jiangsu Province were quantitatively evaluated from the angle of macroscopy. The result shows that, with serious difficulties in sustainable development and serious threat to ecological safety, the ecological deficit of Jiangsu Province reaches 2.271、3、hm~2 per capita.
